Walrus necklace by Augustus, who was not born native, but was adopted by his wife's Kwakiutl and Cherokee people. Carved from an exquisite piece of mammoth tusk with very uncommon coloration. Copper and ebony inlay.

3 1/4" x 1 3/4" x 1/2"; 28 1/2" chain; this piece follows the contour of a tusk, so it is concave with a fair amount of curvature
